Discussion:
Could not find the main class

I am running Pixory on a Windows 2K workstation connected directly to
the internet. I installed Pixory and ran it successfully a couple of
days ago.

Today, when I try to load the composer I get this message:

Jave virtual Machine launcher
Could not find the main class. Program will exit.

I redownloaded Java 1.4 deleted and reinstalled the Pixory files, but
still have the same problem.

Any ideas?

Chris

Chris,

How do you load the composer? Detailed steps of how
you launch pixory will help.

I am double clicking on the pixory.jar which has worked so far and
works on my XP machine.

With pixory running on the XP machine I am also finding that remote
access is a bit hit and miss. I have set up the IP/DNS service with
DYNDNS with update by Direct Update - both of which appear to be
working satisfactorily yet I cannot connect from a remote machine at
the moment. I have eliminated Zone Alarm firewall by closing it, and
have tried using IP address to connect instead of DNS and still this
does not work.

So far as I can see I am doing nothing today that I was not doing
successfully last week.

The program is great when it is working and I would like to
persevere, but am rather lost as to what to try next.

Where do you see this error message?

"Jave virtual Machine launcher
Could not find the main class. Program will exit"

Sounds like your java setup must be different from
mine. I'm running on Win2k also, but if I double click
on the java.jar and there is a problem, the app dies
silently-- there is no "output window" in which an
error message can appear.

Could you try opening a "command window" (cmd.exe),
navigating (cd) to the directory that holds the
pixory.jar and running "java -jar pixory.jar". I'd
like to see if that produces the same result.

Could you elaborate on your lan setup a bit? It sounds
like you have both a Win2k and a WinXP machine on your

are you running a peer-to-peer lan using the built-in
Microsoft lan software?

I was able to fix this by unzipping and using the "use folder names"
option in WinZip. There should be three folders in the directory you
unzip it to. Hope this helps.
